This blew my mind. I thought that toxicity was good, but this was so much better. No bad moments with amazing drumming and crazy time changes and time signatures to accompany the drumming.

I was not a System of a Down fan as a young person. I had heard the song toxicity and seen the music video probably in highschool/University but I was not listening to these albums until very recently. I listened to the entirety of Mesmerize for the first time for this project. And I promptly listened to it multiple times. And I know I will go back to it. The harsh metal sound and sometimes violent and intense lyrics with the lyrical and melodic vocals is so soothing. I think the theme of the album is corruption and violence in the media. I particularly love the songs Cigaro, BYOB, violent pornography, Radio/Video.
