It's a really interesting listen. I felt that the vocals were good, but needed more fast intense songs like My Wave or Spoonman and less contemplative slower songs. Black hole sun was great and sounded unlike anything else on the album. Really great, but so far not my favourite of the grunge giants…

Uncomfortable to look at. The fans call it “The Screaming Elf” (according to Wikipedia) and that is accurate. I am very confused by what this is supposed to be. However, it effectively seems to accomplish what it sets out to do.

Listening to Superunknown before and after the death of Chris Cornell is a very different experience. Before his death I thought the album was one-of-a-kind, bleak, communicating that grunge mentality of no one cares, I don’t care. Now it comes across as a plea for help from a person who failed to feel connection. The musicianship is impeccable with the restraint of the drums combined with complex melodies and counter melodies as time signatures change makes this the most complex music from the 4 parents of grunge. I think most of the songs are iconic, My Wave, Black hole sun, spoonman, the day I tried to live. It is a long album though, more than an hour of really beautiful and haunting music and lyrics too.

I enjoy this image. I believe it to be a distorted picture of Chris. It evokes a lot of emotion, that disconnectedness and isolation that the songs portray.
