A masterclass in grunge. I find that it is not super catchy but very beautiful nonetheless. This has been the first of their albums I have listened to. I truly get all the hype now surrounding Nirvana.

The bird’s eye view of their stage is really cool. The picture being cropped like a TV is another really neat thing. The band’s logo is also really well designed.

I know this is Nirvana’s last album recorded only 5 months before Cobain’s tragic death. And Nirvana is known as one of the first, great grunge bands but listening to this album today it sounds so folky and reminds me that one genre of music grows from another. Kurt’s gravelly voice comes out beautiful in this broken way and I enjoy every song as much today as I did when I first started listening to this album in the mid 90s.
