Music Ranking

This album is essentially a better Waka/Jawaka. Cleetus is the album highlight for me, but all of the songs are amazing. The Grand Wazoo paints such a strong picture of the battle depicted on the cover (at least to me) and Calvin finally clicked for me.

Lots of great xylophone and tight playing in “The Grand Wazoo” title track! “For Calvin” is a lot of weird whirring, sound effects, and cowbell… not sure it is music?  Maybe it is sound painting?  “Cletus Awreetus-Arightus” is very tight and musical.  Really a fun listen.  Great trombone playing! Really liked that one. Added it to my favourites. “Eat that Question” was fine. The last minute was excellent - sounds like some great flute or piccolo playing in there - but the middle was just ok. Again “Blessed Relief” was just fine. Overall this album did not surpass the magnificence of Waka/Jawaka or Studio Tan.
