Music Ranking

This is such a fun and funny album. This was the first Frank Zappa album I listened to and I loved it. The comedy is great (although at times a little childish) and the playing is awesome, especially the great xylophone playing throughout. While some of it may not have aged the best, it is still a fun listen and a good time. My one big complaint with the album is that it is way too short, which is a blessing and a curse. The length makes it easier to listen to the whole way through but means there is less to listen to overall. A good album from a great musician.

I felt that the content was too zany and the music, while lovely, was not lovely enough. I liked all of the percussion. But in contrast to Studio Tan which was super zany I felt that rather than coming across as an artistic piece, this came off as a bunch of really weird songs. Likely won’t listen again.

The album cover is quite personal with a very close up shot of Zappa’s face. It is an attractive cover, with Zappa’s eyes reaching out.
