Music Ranking

Mom had told me that this was the best album of all time and that it was so amazing and crazy and that all the songs sounded so different. However, I found that all the songs sounded relatively similar and did not blow my mind. However, I did enjoy the album, with my favourite being “Starman” (big shocker).

Love. But I am struck by how different the songs all sound from each other:

Five years - a rock power ballad

Soul Love - rock ballad with loads of saxophone

Moonage Daydream - rock ballad with saxophone and flute

Starman - what a song - I think it changed my life.  I can’t believe I never knew it until now.  Where have I been living?  I can’t believe my 11 year old knows it!

It Ain’t Easy - bluesy glam rock with call and response

Lady Stardust - 

Star - Rock

Ziggy Stardust - prog rock?

Suffragette City - punk?

Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide - glam rock

So many of the songs are orchestral with strings - so exciting, so fun. I can’t believe I am new to this album.
