This was a really great listen. A teacher had recommended this to me and he was correct. This was a lot of fun to listen to and I loved all the skilled playing. However, I found Mingus’ bass playing not stunning and way too quiet in the mix. I found that naming the songs after jazz peers and greats was very interesting. Also I found the assorted “oh yeah” every here and there added a little bit of interest.
